My weekend was far busier than usual, especially considering it wasn’t a D&D weekend.
On Saturday my wife and I went shopping to get each other presents for our 3rd Wedding Anniversary that’s coming up soon.
We checked what the gifts were “supposed” to be (leather For Your FYI Information*) we ended not actually get anything like it.

I had the awesome 6 inch Legendary Super Saiyan Broly pop vinyl that I pre-ordered arrive at ZiNG Pop Culture, so my wife paid for it and it became her gift for me.

While I ended up buying my wife this awesome The Little Mermaid shirt that she wanted, also at Zing.
… We’re so romantic!
I also got a camping table from Bunnings Warehouse to replace the big 6 foot folding table I was using in the “studio” because that thing took up most of the room.
We then did boring grocery shopping.
Sunday had my wife and her high school friends have a get together for the first time in ages!
Sure, we play D&D with some of them, but the whole group rarely manages to get together.
Which meant that I had some company!
I may have explained in an earlier blog that my wife and had have high school friendship circles that overlap because of relationships.
So my friend and I had a good chat about many things… but mostly D&D!
It made me happy to hear that he was looking forward to returning to Zendikar when we finish the Starter Set campaign we’re currently in.
Though it was mostly because we’ve only played low level campaigns so far, and we’re starting to get into the mid-tier levels in Zendikar.
Which leads me into today, Monday.
I swear today just vanished.
I have chunks of today that I honestly feel like are missing.
Which was slightly annoying, though I did manage to get the start of my prep for Thursdays D&D session done.
I drew the first of 3 maps necessary for the first adventure in Saltmarsh.
I ended up getting the first floor of the “haunted” mansion the group will start investigating finished.
I’m planning on getting everything else drawn tomorrow, but that might be asking a lot.
The issue is that while the layout of the house makes getting upstairs more obvious, there’s nothing stopping them from exploring the cellar level before upstairs…
So I basically have to get all of the maps drawn and ready for Thursday.
I do have to say that it’s one of the benefits of running official adventures that they have maps designed already.
My biggest issue is that they never actually give you those maps in usable forms.
An a4 page with 2 maps on it doesn’t exactly help the players use models to walk through it.
So I have to draw them out if that’s easier and cheaper than trying to get them in a high enough quality to print them out at the proper scale.
I really wish they would include the correct scaled versions of all the maps.
That would make every DMs life so much easier!
But as that’s not what happens, guess I’ll continue to draw this mansion.
So therefore tomorrow will either be more map drawing or recording things for YouTube.
I’ll see how I’m feeling, but either way, I will be doing a whole bunch of work, no more excuses!
* For Your FYI Information is indeed a redundant way to say FYI, it’s an inside joke I have that came about because my former boss once forwarded me an email for “For Your FYI” as the only text in his message… My hilarious and super clever friend Ben then added the “Information” back in at the end, completing the masterpiece!
