It’s time to head into Saltmarsh

So I finally had my first session at The Hall of Heroes.
It was… interesting to say the least.
I don’t know what I was expecting, but it surely wasn’t what I got.

Today was meant to be a video day, but I knew it wouldn’t be, as I had things to do for D&D, and it’ll probably be like that for a little bit.
I think Thursdays are locked away for now.
The only thing I did get done was the two-step authentication of Twitch which is needed for Restream to work with it.
So D&D!

I was pretty nervous today, as I had no idea what I was walking into, and the unknown is something I don’t handle very well.
When I say that HoH had called it Adventurers League, it did get a little more worried, and a little less worried at the same time.
I somehow managed to get parking right out the front of the arcade HoH is located in, which was great!
Mostly because I’m pretty sure I would have been mugged and killed if I parked where I normally park during the day.
So I went in not knowing exactly what we’d play… D&D 5E obviously, but the campaign was going to be up for discussion.
So I set up my stuff and waiting for people to arrive.

In dribs and drabs I eventually got 4 people in my group.
I got 3 guys around my age and a young kid, early teens I would assume.
As usually happens with me, I over think everything before actually being fine in the moment.
So I was stressing about everything during the day, and was totally fine once everyone was there.
Each of them had played before, and 2 of them had played together and were friends outside of the game.
So we chatted for a bit and then got down to deciding on what adventure we wanted to play.
I suggested Zendikar, which got a whole lot of nothing, and then we got onto the WotC official ones, is as Adventurers League is probably the better way of going.
It was eventually decided that Ghosts of Saltmarsh would be the campaign we’d play.

I’m not sure which of them is the Ghost, but it sure does look exciting!

Which is great, because I’d already purchased Ghosts of Saltmarsh because of the nautical themes that might come in handy for the next part of Zendikar.
I have a large amount of in-store credit at HoH because of a Magic the Gathering pre-release mishap where Wizards decided to change the rules and make me get nothing that I paid for.
So if we had chosen an adventure I didn’t own, I would have gotten it then and there… assuming they had it in stock.
But as that didn’t happen, I was more than happy, as it just means I get to use that money on other things.

So we then got down to character creation.
Harry the young boy, already had his character from his previous game, a Wood Elf Ranger.
Jordan, one of the ones who moved to my group when the Wednesday DM couldn’t make it, had a Vengeance Paladin ready.
Evan, the other one who moved to my group, decided to change from his druid to a Fallen Aasimar Brute Fighter.
As a side note, the Brute is an Unearthed Arcana archetype for the fighter that literally everyone I’ve shown it to thought was awesome. I wish WotC would hurry up and make it official!
And last but not least Matt came with the majority of an idea for a character, he ended up making a Tiefling Divine Soul Sorcerer.
There’s still a possibility of more people joining, but it’s a decent group to start off with.

Now all I have to do is read the adventure and start prepping… Yay…
